october 29th.
october 24th.
i am one of those people who believe it is extremely important to be supportive of your friends.
all the time.
no matter what.
even when said support means that you will be made to suffer.
which explains how i ended up spending this evening in a room full of women. (licia+large groups of women=disaster.) i am not catty enough to fit in, and i don't like silly games...buuuuut, blanche needed moral support.
i plastered on a fake smile, and was lulled into complacency by wine, cheese, and olives...while little-miss-baptist-girl made rude comments about my tattoos and constantly told me i talked too loud, i watched this:
and this:
and this:and this:
by the end of two hours, my face looked like this:and some drunk blonde stole my flip-flops.
all the time.
no matter what.

etsy bloggers' featured blogger: bf beads.
this month's featured blog over at etsy bloggers is mama's magic, manned by the lovely jen over at bfbeads. not only is her blog superfun, but her shops are full of all sorts of mommy good-ness...like this:
this pretty bracelet is from jen's "baby friendly beads" line, designed to make breastfeeding easier..jen says:
"Reminder bracelets are used to keep track of which breast was nursed on last during a feeding (or which breast needs to begin the next feeding). Simply wear it on the left or right wrist and switch as needed! The beads are strung on memory wire, so the bracelet can be easily switched from one wrist to the other. There are no clasps to fuss with (or for baby to break). "
check out more baby friendly beads here, and other mama's magic here..and don't forget to check out jen's blog!

october 20th.
october 19th.
when i was in college,
i had an english professor who returned an essay exam i had taken with the grade of "0" on it.
she had gone over every single letter "t" on the paper with a red pen
and across the top had written:
" 't' is a tall letter and should come three-quarters of the way through the lines you are writing on."
and all i could think was:
"the lines on which you are writing. duh."

october 15th.
today is blog action day, a day where bloggers from around the world take time out to focus on an issue grander than themselves, with the hope that a global discussion will ensue..
this year, the topic is poverty.
pov-er-ty: noun. the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support. condition of being poor. indigence. destitution. need. want. a state of privation and lack of necessities. serious lack of the means for proper existence. a state of having absolutely none of the necessities of life. implies that help or relief is necessary. meagerness.
i am not going to use this as a platform to shove politics at people. regardless of who you are and what you stand for, there is an unfathomable number of people around the world living-and dying- in poverty. it is a condition that has no regard for race, creed, or gender..and that is something that we should not continue to ignore.
so..i challenge you:
do something.
research issues. research politicians. research relief organizations. volunteer. give something of yourself, that others may live.
if you are interested and don't know where to start, check out the blog action day website for helpful resources..

it is not my style to do this, but as i was tagged by both everyday moments and the spotted sparrow on the same day, i suppose i will comply...here are six random tidbits about the wonder that is licia:
- i don't have cartilage or reflexes in either knee.
- i can read a little over one hundred pages per hour.
- i practice writing with my left hand daily, in hopes of becoming ambidextrous.
- i am a native floridian, and i loathe hot weather.
- i have had thirteen concussions so far. i am afraid to shave my head because of all the bumps on my skull.
- i have had the same email account for almost fifteen years.
